Therapy for people carrying
pain in silence

About Lavender Psychology

Hello and welcome to Lavender Psychology. I’m Dr. Laura Pluckhan, a licensed clinical psychologist providing warm, person-centered individual therapy for people navigating trauma, depression, identity, and the parts of life that feel too hard to carry alone.

You don’t have to keep holding everything inside.

You may be used to being the strong one—the one who keeps going, even when things feel heavy underneath the surface. I will provide you with a place where you finally don’t have to do that anymore. A safe haven to speak what’s been unspoken and begin to find your voice in a way that feels safe and true to you.

My Specialties

You may see yourself in one or several of these. Regardless of where you do or don't fit, all are welcome.

Trauma

At times, you may ask yourself "Was it really that bad?" Yes, yes it was. Trauma can leave lasting imprints even when we don't see it right away. Nothing is too big or to small to impact you. Some of the challenges I work with people on include childhood trauma, healing from relationships, and navigating sexual trauma. Together, we create a safe space to process, heal, and move forward at your pace.

Depression

Living with depression is exhausting, isolating, and overwhelming with even small tasks feeling like they are "too much." No judgement here. Let's learn about what your patterns are and find what keeps you stuck so that you can find the relief you need. You aren't alone in this.

Women

There are so many unique pressures, roles, and experiences that women often carry—both seen and unseen. Sometimes we need that shift from "Am I crazy?" to "I'm surviving in an unfair environment."  I'll help you look at things through the lens of intersectional systems that impact your life.

Asexuality and LGBTQIA+

You deserve a space where you can show up as your full, authentic self. Whether you are exploring your identity or seeking a therapist who understands LGBTQ+ experiences, you are welcome here. Asexuality is a particular specialty that I enjoy working with; not feeling any attraction at all can be just as challenging to navigate.

Find your voice

You deserve support that feels safe, real, and genuinely caring.

Let's find time to talk. I'd love to hear more about what you are going through and what you're hoping to find in a therapist. If it turns out I'm not the right fit for you, I'll help you find someone who is.

Therapy Modalities

My approach in therapy is flexible, collaborative, and centered on you. I believe everyone has worth and deserves gentleness, no matter what you have been through. I don’t stick to only one type of therapy—I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Person-Centered Therapy, and Art Therapy to find what feels supportive and makes sense. If something doesn’t feel like a good fit, we'll adjust and try something else together, making sure each session is meaningful and grounded in what matters most to you.

Above all, my goal is to create a compassionate and affirming environment where you can feel seen, supported, and empowered to make meaningful change.

You have choice

I practice trauma-informed care, an approach that acknowledges that your experience is interconnected with what happened to you and empowers you to have choice in how you want to heal. Building safety through transparency and consistency is key. So many of us who have been through the unspeakable carry it with us - the weight of the memories, the comments, the confusion. Let's work to shift the narrative from "what is wrong with you" to  "what happened to you."
